 About the Role

    The Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre offers an experience which enriches and enhances the visitors’ appreciation and understanding of the natural and cultural values of the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park.

We currently have an opportunity for a Manager Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre and Gallery to join our team.

Under the general direction of the Parks and Visitor Services Coordinator, this position:

• Manages the day-to-day management, customer servicing and profitable operation of the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre and Gallery.
• Is responsible for all aspects of visitor management, visitor safety and the provision of high-quality interpretative activities.

The Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre and Gallery (PDD) is a self-funding business enterprise owned by the department, intended to offer an experience which enriches and enhances the visitors’ appreciation and understanding of the natural values of the Nambung National Park (the park). All retail revenue is returned to the management of the PDD and visitor services in the park.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

 About the Role

  The Turquoise District extends along the coast from Lancelin in the south to Dongara with a chain of approximately 40 islands, islets and rocks of the coast. It is also home to Lesueur National Park and Nambung National Park. The district office is located in Jurien Bay with a work centre in both Cervantes and the Pinnacles

We currently have an opportunity for a District Operations Officer - Work, Health and Safety to join our team.

Under the direction (Level 3) or general direction (Level 4) of the District Manager, this position:

• Reviews and monitors all aspects of implementation of the Department’s Work Health and Safety Management System in the district. Provides focus and guidance to all employees and contractors working within the district on health and safety related matters.
• Collates and disseminates information relating to safe working practices.
• Ensures Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and a process for the completion of job inductions, exists and occurs within the district.
• Facilitates Work, Health and Safety (WHS) training and inductions for district staff and contractors including maintaining relevant records.
• Facilitates the procurement, maintenance and utilisation of safety equipment as appropriate for the work undertaken.
• Engages with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing section to ensure a consistent approach to WHS is achieved.

 The Midwest Region extends along the coast from Lancelin in the south to north of Carnarvon then inland past Meekatharra. The regional headquarters is in Geraldton. We currently have an opportunity for a Machine Plant Operator to join our team.

Under the direction of the Crew Leader, this position:

•  Operates heavy machinery such as a 950 Caterpillar Wheel Loader or equivalent, D6 Caterpillar bulldozer or equivalent in forested environments and challenging terrain. Undertakes loading, unloading and transportation of heavy machinery with Prime Mover and float on a variety of roads and conditions.
• Undertakes bushfire suppression work at all categories of bushfire (Level 1, 2 and 3) and is fire line competent.
• Applies appropriate disease hygiene and work, health and safety requirements at all times.
• Supports identification of training needs for employees to ensure safe and effective works.

You will possess strong expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, treasury management and financial governance. CPA, CA or equivalent professional accreditation will be highly regarded, along with excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

 Reporting to the Executive Manager Development Services, you will play a key role in administering the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme and overseeing a wide range of statutory and strategic planning responsibilities.  No two days on the water are quite the same. You’ll be involved across our marine tourism operations, including:

• Guiding engaging and informative in-water and onboard marine tours
• Swimming and interacting with Australian sea lions
• Sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for the marine environment with guests
• Working as a deckhand on our Rock Lobster Catch & Keep Tours and occasional Fishing Charters, including pot handling and physical/heavy work

We are seeking a new team member with the following qualifications:

• Experience using powered equipment, Blowers, Trimmers and Saws.

• Previous experience operating a ride on lawn mower.

• Experience with Garden maintenance.

• Knowledge of plants, horticulture and landscaping desirable.

• A strong work ethic, with attention to detail. Physically fit and Capable of

working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• A valid C-class driver’s license.

• A current Police Clearance
